Journalism Graduate Programme Funding secured for 2023.
Learning Waves is delighted to announce that funding has been secured for its Journalism Graduate Programme for 2023. The funding has been secured from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and will be supported by funding from participating radio stations. In addition to this, funding from Skillnet Ireland will support a tailored training programme for the graduates while on placement. The programme is now certified by the London College of Music and on successful completion graduates will receive a Broadcast Journalism Diploma. The certification of the programme, along with new elements being added to the programme for 2023, were acknowledged by the assessment panel.
This will be the fourth iteration of this programme and the funding secured is a testament to the success of the programme in finding and nuturing new journalists to work in the industry. In 2022, 10 graduates participated in the programme across the following stations :
- Radio Kerry
- Newstalk
- Off the Ball
- Galway Bay FM
- Midlands 103
- iRadio
- Tipp FM
- Ocean FM
- Shannonside
- Mid West Radio
All of the graduates have now completed their placement and 7 of the 10 graduates have been retained by the participating station either on a full-time or part-time contract. A full report from the 2022 programme will be published by the end of March 2023. Full details of the 2023 programme and details of how stations can apply will be issued in early March 2023.
Meet the graduates who took part in our 2022 programme.
