Webinar on 2018 Presidential Election Coverage - The Legal Implications.

The aim of this webinar is to provide you with up to date information in relation to the BAI guidelines on the Election Coverage issued on 20th September 2018.  The publication of the guidelines assists broadcasters to ensure that their approach to coverage is open, transparent and fair to all interested parties. The importance of social media as a channel for audience engagement with news and current affairs programming has been recognised by the BAI and this is reflected in the requirement for broadcasters to have appropriate policies and procedures in place for handling on-air contributions via social media. The guidelines also provide for the implementation of procedures by broadcasters to address any conflicts of interest that may exist or arise in respect of anyone with an editorial involvement in any news or current affairs content, whether such person works on-air or off-air.
